Most people develop 32 teeth, including four teeth at the very back of the mouth that are known as “wisdom teeth” because they tend to appear when people are older (teens or early 20s) and “wiser” than they were when the rest of their teeth erupted. Unfortunately, these teeth must be removed in most cases because they can pose a threat to the individual’s oral health. At All Dental Center, we offer gentle, comfortable, and efficient wisdom tooth extractions in Watertown, MA.
The first step is to make sure you are comfortable; we may use both anesthesia and sedation to accomplish this. Then, we access the teeth (we may need to make incisions in the gums). Removing them might require that we break them into pieces. Once they are out, we close the incisions and give you detailed postoperative instructions to make your recovery as smooth as possible. The average recovery time after wisdom tooth extractions is one week.
